State Councillor for Economic Affairs Dr. Michael Strugl visits AUDIO MOBIL

The automotive industry is currently undergoing a major transformation: in addition to new drive technologies such as electric drives, driver assistance systems in particular are becoming increasingly important. "Upper Austria is in a very good position here, as there are highly innovative automotive suppliers from the IT sector that are already very successful in this business area. We want to ensure that our province becomes one of the leading digital regions in Europe, and one measure in this regard is the application for a test track for autonomous driving, which is to be set up in Upper Austria," emphasizes Dr. Michael Strugl, Provincial Councillor for Economic Affairs. Provincial Councillor Strugl has already been able to take a look into the future of the automobile at the company Audio Mobil in Ranshofen, which is involved in the research and development of new vehicle components in the areas of vehicle networking, operation and infotainment, such as assistance systems, distance meters and navigation systems.
Provincial Councillor for Economic Affairs Strugl recently visited the tests recently carried out by Audio Mobil in Ranshofen for well-known car manufacturers to determine the extent to which these new systems and controls distract drivers. "Unfortunately, it has been shown that there is sometimes considerable potential for distraction with modern vehicle systems. This is also the reason why we are carrying out these vehicle studies in order to incorporate the findings into the development of new infotainment systems and thus increase operating safety in vehicles," explains Audio-Mobil Managing Director Thomas Stottan. As car manufacturers are very interested in reducing these distraction risks, these tests are particularly important. The German magazine AutoBild even devoted a cover story to these test series by Audio Mobil, which counts VW, Audi, BMW and Daimler among its customers.
"Audio Mobil is a perfect example of how Upper Austria as a business location can combine its core competencies in the automotive supply industry and IT in order to remain internationally competitive and play a key role in shaping technologies related to partially and fully automated driving," emphasizes Provincial Councillor Strugl. The economic policy of the province of Upper Austria will provide increased support here in future with its "Digitalization" flagship initiative.
