Mobility 3.0

While the car used to be a status symbol (Fig. 1) and therefore the only way to be truly independent in terms of mobility, ICT is giving rise to new and additional use cases. The "car" business model is being redefined as a result.

The automobile can hardly be replaced - especially in urban and suburban areas - but its role is changing massively. Efficient mobility through individual networking, personalized, independent and unrestricted mobility for all. All in all, cheaper and more environmentally friendly: this is how the goal could be defined. The car will become a "very intelligent" participant in the mix of different mobility carriers, interacting with everyone and everything through ICT. (Fig.2)
